fuenteYfuente was asked to design a new shop design for Sunrise, one of Switzerland’s telecom providers. The project included the complete interior, furniture and graphic design. The goal was to talk to a young target audience. It was very important to take into account that the cell phone became a fashion accessory and is not just a technical necessity anymore. Teamed up with Anna Blattert and Daniel Gafner they created a store that looks like a fashion boutique in which the phones are the superstars.
The store is subdivided in three parts: the generous exhibition space for the telephones, the cash desk where the customer contact takes place and the "entertainment lounge".
An equalizer, taken as metaphor for entertainment electronics, finds its way through the whole store: As window sticker, as graphic panels on the wall, as modular ceiling elements, or as display modules in different heights. Every piece of furniture is equipped with its own lamp (which is at the same time the handle for moving it around) to highlight its content. As a reference to one of the most important pieces of entertainment electronics, the display case of the furniture consists of original Technics MK2 turntable covers. The long desk guarantees discretion for the customer and massive space for the clerk. It consists of a wooden cube, which is turned into a functional cash desk simply by mounting a one-piece welted and anodized sheet of metal. The prior unused space beneath the hanging cube serves today as the "sunrise entertainment lounge". It attracts attention with its playful and edgy furniture that is inspired by digital worlds where usually game-heroes can be found... It includes game consoles, screens and a wireless download-hotspot.
